Clinical Associate, Guidance Counsellor, Canadian Certified Counsellor

AAndreea Calian, MA, is a Guidance Counsellor, Canadian Certified Counsellor, and psychotherapy intern under the supervision of Clinique Altera’s Clinical Director, Amanda Hankins. She offers warm, thoughtful, and evidence-based support to individuals and couples navigating life’s challenges. She works with clients who want to feel more connected to themselves, better understood in their relationships, and more grounded in everyday life.

Andreea’s approach is integrative and personalized, drawing from psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), strength-based counselling, solution-focused therapy, and Brainspotting. She is trained in Brainspotting, a body-focused, trauma-informed therapeutic modality similar to EMDR that uses focused visual attention to help clients access and process emotional, physiological, and trauma-related experiences that may be difficult to reach through talk therapy alone.

She supports clients with anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, burnout, life transitions, trauma-related concerns, and relationship difficulties. Her style is collaborative, compassionate, and practical, helping clients build insight while also developing tools for meaningful change.

In her work with couples, Andreea takes an active and directive approach. She helps partners identify unhelpful relational patterns, improve communication, address recurring conflict, and develop more effective ways of expressing needs and responding to one another. She may intervene directly in session, slow down difficult interactions, identify patterns as they emerge, and offer concrete strategies to help couples create meaningful and lasting change.

Andreea offers counselling for individuals and couples in both English and French. Whether you are navigating stress, feeling stuck, working through trauma, or seeking stronger and more connected relationships, she provides a supportive space for reflection, healing, and growth.

Available in Montréal and virtually across Québec through Clinique Altera.
