At Clinic Altera, we believe there is always another way forward. The name Altera comes from the Latin root meaning “the other” or “another way”. It reminds us that when you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down by old patterns, there are always new possibilities for growth, connection, and integration.

Founded by Amanda Hankins, MSW, on the ethos of offering compassionate, accessible care designed to meet you where you are. Our services include individual, couple, family, and group therapy; clinical supervision; coaching; workshops; and psychotherapy intensives. Whether you join us in person at our Montreal clinic or connect virtually through our secure, easy-to-use platform, our team is here to walk alongside you.

Services are available in both French and English. You may choose your clinician or be thoughtfully paired with someone whose approach, expertise, and language best fit your needs and goals.

At Altera, therapy is more than a service. It is a safe, supportive space that opens the door to another way—a way toward resilience, integration, and lasting change.

Psychotherapy + Psychotherpy Intensives

Psychotherapy is a structured process that uses evidence-based approaches to help people better understand themselves, their emotions, their relationships, and their behaviours. It is more than supportive listening; it is a professional intervention aimed at bringing about meaningful change, relief, and growth.

At Clinic Altera, we provide psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families, and groups,  always grounded in respect for diversity, inclusivity, and your unique lived experience. Our therapists create a safe and collaborative space to help you build resilience, reduce suffering, and foster connection.

In addition to traditional psychotherapy sessions, we also offer psychotherapy intensives, a focused and highly effective format that condenses months of work into several days of deep, structured sessions, followed by ongoing support.

We are also proud to offer the Safe and Sound Protocol, a gentle, evidence-based listening intervention designed to support nervous system regulation, emotional balance, and deeper connection. We also offer brainspotting, a focused brain–body approach that helps access and process trauma, emotional blocks, and somatic activation at a deeper level. These trauma-informed protocols can be integrated into psychotherapy, intensives, or coaching as powerful adjuncts to support your psychotherapeutic goals.

Traditional psychotherapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in length, offered both in-person and virtually through our secure, user-friendly platform.

Clinical Supervision + Internships

Clinical supervision is an essential component of professional development and ethical practice in mental health. At Clinic Altera, supervision provides a structured and reflective space where clinicians can deepen their skills, explore complex clinical situations, and receive constructive feedback.

Our supervisors are experienced psychotherapists committed to creating a collaborative and supportive learning environment. We welcome professionals from diverse backgrounds and are inclusive of varied therapeutic approaches.

Supervision is available in individual or group formats, virtually or in-person, and can include the use of secure video review and feedback to enrich the learning process.

In addition to supervision, Clinic Altera is proud to serve as a teaching and training clinic, offering structured internship opportunities for emerging professionals. We provide psychotherapy internships to fulfill the 600 hours of supervised practice required by the OPQ, as well as social work and counselling internships for graduate students seeking diverse clinical experience.
